EMERGENCY services are currently attending an ongoing incident in a York suburb.
Several police vans, North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue and the ambulance service are at an incident in Spindle Close in Foxwood.
North Yorkshire Police say there are concerns for the welfare of a distressed person inside a property.
Specially trained officers, including armed police, are at the scene and are working to bring the incident to a safe conclusion.
A police spokesman said: "The incident is contained within the property and officers believe there is no threat to the wider community.
"Thank you to local people who may be affected by the policing presence, for their patience and understanding while this is ongoing."
But local resident Ian Paul, who has lived on the street for six years, said that emergency services have been on site since about 4am.
He said: "No one seems to know what's going on. There's about eight police vehicles including vans as well as a fire engine and an ambulance.
"There seem to be a lot of police standing around, but what it is is a mystery.
"We have never had such a big incident around here involving all three emergency services while I have lived here."
