When I lived in Skelton in 1953 much of the land was owned by Captain Arthur Place, who lived with his wife and unmarried sister at Skelton Grange.
When he died and the estate was sold for housing I was pleased to see that a small cul-de-sac was called Arthur Place.
Perhaps if any apartments are built at Bootham Crescent one could be called Bottom Storey, in honour of York City legend Arthur Bottom.
