FIRE crews were called to an incident involving a barn fire near York earlier this morning and remain on the scene.

A number of crews and an aerial ladder platform (ALP) were called to attend to a fire in a large barn in South Milford, Selby at around 5.30am today.

A spokesperson for the fire service said: "Crews are likely to be at the scene for some time. A ground monitor is in use and the ALP is being set up."

Crews have been on the scene for most of the day tackling the fire.

The incident was scaled down at around 4pm, but some resources including water bowsers remain at the scene.

Support from the HMEPA has also been on scene.
