AN alleged shoplifter was arrested after being found hiding in a loft.

The York North Neighbourhood Police Team tweeted that officers arrested the person, who was wanted on warrant, yesterday evening in Tang Hall.

It tweeted: "Just to let you know, if you are wanted by the police, we do check lofts."

The York South team at North Yorkshire Police had earlier tweeted: "NPT retained their hide & seek title after locating another wanted person hiding in a loft."
