FIREFIGHTERS were called out to a fire at a flat in York.
North Yorkshire fire and rescue say they were called at 2.41pm today to a ground floor flat in New Earswick village.
A spokesman for the service said: "The fire in the kitchen was out on the arrival of crews and was caused by a plastic container being placed on the hob.
"The fire caused some minor smoke damage to the property. Crews used a positive pressure ventilation fan to get rid of the smoke."
