EMERGENCY services were called out to reports of someone trying to go in to the River Ouse in York.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue say they were called out at 6.18pm last night to Scarborough Bridge in the city centre to reports of someone in distress.
A spokesman for the service said: "A crew attended a welfare call to an indiviudal near the river. No fire service action was required."
The outcome of the incident is not known at this stage.
