FOUR men from County Durham have been arrested after a car containing drugs and a knife sped past a police safety camera van at 110mph.

The Mercedes was stopped by officers on the A64 near Tadcaster on Sunday afternoon.

A search of the vehicle revealed a quantity of what is believed to be cannabis and a knife.

Four men aged 19 to 39 from County Durham were arrested in connection with drug dealing offences.

The driver was also arrested on suspicion of drug driving and one of the men was also arrested on suspicion of having a bladed weapon.

An investigation is under way and the men were released under investigation pending further enquiries, including tests of the substance recovered.
