YORK City’s National League North trip to Hereford has been postponed after the Minstermen confirmed a player has tested positive for Covid-19.

The club has released no further details about the player but said that first-team and youth-team staff and players will self-isolate until November 1.

As a result, the fixtures that fall within this time period will be rescheduled. This includes Saturday’s trip to the Bulls and the October 31 visit of Kettering Town to Bootham Crescent.

City’s fixture is one of three division-wide to be put off because of coronavirus. Both Alfreton Town (who were due to face Fylde on Saturday) and Leamington (who were to travel to Farsley Celtic) announced Covid-19 cases last week.

The Minstermen's first game out of isolation is slated to be at Bootham Crescent on November 7 against Chester, who are in FA Cup fourth qualifying round action this weekend at home to Northern Premier League north/west outfit Marine. The first round proper of the Cup is to be played on November 7.

A York statement added: "The club put its Covid contingency plans into action quickly and sought guidance from the National League medical team.

"Backroom staff and players across the first team and youth team, along with some office staff, will self-isolate until 1st November."

The Academy and Foundation continue to operate, and phone lines at the ground will be staffed.

The ground's club shop will be closed until after the isolation period but orders can still be made online.
