Northern Powergrid said hundreds of homes had been affected by a power cut
HUNDREDS of homes in Tadcaster were hit by a power cut this afternoon.
Northern Powergrid said initially that 1,430 homes in the LS24 postcode had experienced an unplanned power cut, which was reported at 2.20pm, but it said by mid-afternoon that only 310 properties were now affected.
By 5.45pm, fewer than ten properties were still affected, and power was expected to be restored by 9pm.
The company said the cut had been caused by an unexpected problem with cables or equipment serving the area.
