Police are appealing for witnesses after a man armed with a knife stole £2,000 from a convenience store in Jarrow.
The incident happened at 1.30pm on Tuesday, August 4 when staff at the McColl’s convenience store on Edinburgh Road were threatened by a man with a knife.
The man jumped over the counter and brandished a knife before threatening the member of staff and forcing them to open the till.
He was then able to make off with around £2,000.
The man is described as white, wearing a white face covering and a black hooded top.
Police enquiries to locate the man are ongoing.
Detective Constable Kelly Scott said: “We urge anyone who may have witnessed the incident take place to get in touch with any information that they have.
“This took place in broad day light so if anyone was in the area at the time and saw anything suspicious please get in touch.
“This has understandably left the victim very shaken and we are determined to bring whoever is responsible to justice”
