The A61 near Thirsk was closed for hours after a serious crash
A MAJOR road in North Yorkshire was closed for several hours today after a serious crash.
North Yorkshire Police tweeted that emergency services were at the scene of a serious collision on the A61 at Carlton Miniott,near Thirsk.
It said the collision was reported at 3.15pm and the road was closed and was expected to remain so for several hours, adding: "Please avoid the area."
Police tweeted at 8pm that the road had now reopened.
