A MAN has been charged after a police officer was allegedly kicked in the head.
Police were called to reports of a disqualified driver using a van while intoxicated at around midnight on Friday.
Officers stopped a vehicle in Sacriston and a man was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving, as well as assaulting an emergency worker.
Mark Youll, 40, of Fynway, Sacriston, is charged with the assault, driving without a licence, driving without insurance, and failing to provide an evidential sample of breath. He will appear at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court on September 8.
