HEARTFELT tributes have been paid to a personal trainer described as ‘one of the fitness industry’s finest’, who has died suddenly.

Tributes have poured in for Kelsie ‘Smiler’ Brownlie who died on Sunday evening.

A spokeswoman for Cumbria Police confirmed that officers were called to a sudden death of a woman in her 30s at a property in Hazel Close in Barrow at 8.35pm.

The force also confirmed the death is not being treated as suspicious.

Miss Brownlie, who worked as a personal trainer in Barrow, was described by those who knew her as a ‘bubbly person who brought the atmosphere to the room’.

Matt Bailey, owner of Warrior Fitness in Newcastle Under Lyme, knew Miss Brownlie while she was working at Pure Gym seven years ago.

He said: “Another one of the fitness industry’s finest taken. She was the most lively, energetic woman I ever met, funny as toast and her cheeky smile lit up a room.

“In my opinion she was one of the best personal trainers I’ve ever met - gone but never forgotten.

“I was really shocked by the news - we lost another personal trainer just a few weeks ago - it’s just so sad.”

A string of friends paid tribute to the personal trainer, with Haydn Adelburgh adding: “I knew Kelsie from years ago, just when I was getting into the fitness industry.

“She helped me through my personal training qualification.

“She was always a bubbly person to be around and would go out of her way to help anyone.

“She brought the atmosphere to the room and always walked around with a big smile.

“You could always count on Kelsie being there for you.”

Cllr Bill McEwan, who represents Ormsgill on Barrow Council said her loss will be felt across the area.

He said: “My deepest thoughts go out to her family and friends.

“It’s so sad, she was such a young age. It’s very sad times and especially sad times for the people that knew her. I imagine her loss will be felt all across Ormsgill.”

Others paid their respects on social media, with Kelly Dickinson adding: “You will truly be missed. Sending all the love to her friends and family. Stay smiling gorgeous.”

And Maureen Balding said: “Sad news, such a young woman, rest in peace.”
