POLICE have this afternoon asked for the public's help in establishing the full circumstances surrounding a crash in York involving a fire service van.
North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service said the collision between a service Transit van and a Ford Fiesta happened just before 8pm in North Lane, Huntington.
It said police and ambulance crews attended but no one was trapped or injured.
It said last night that the road was closed after the crash because of a spillage of oil on to the carriageway.
North Yorkshire Police today appealed for witnesses and information, and said the driver of the Transit van was treated at the scene for minor reddening and soreness to her chest.
It said the driver of the Fiesta – who had suffered a cut to his head – left the scene in another car described as a small and dark, similar in size to a VW Golf.
"The driver of the Fiesta contacted the police on Monday to report the incident," said a spokesperson.
Anyone with information should phone 101, select option 1, and speak to the Force Control Room, quoting reference number 12200128119.
