AN ELDERLY man has been rescued after falling from Walney promenade. 
A man in his 70s fell at least three metres from the promenade pavement and landed on the embankment below at approximately midnight last night. 
A member of the public witnessed the fall and called for assistance.
Crews from Walney and Barrow fire and rescue service joined NWAS Paramedics and Cumbria Police in rescuing the man. 
He received a head injury from the fall, but it was not deemed to be too serious. 
A scoop stretcher was employed to retrieve the fallen man and lift him off the shoreline. 
The incident was resolved in just ten minutes.
