A Basingstoke couple are urging the public to help them find their Land Rover which was stolen from outside their home overnight.

The 1985 Defender was taken from the car park opposite their home in Watson Way in Winklebury overnight.

Marlie told The Gazette: "We first realised it had gone missing at 11.30am this morning when my partner wanted to go out."

The car has a distinctive Swiss/ Union Jack flag on the roof, with two Beaulieu stickers in the back window and a child's car seat on the passenger's seat.

Basingstoke Gazette:

Marlie believes it was stolen sometime between 10pm last night and 11.30am today.

She said: "We're so upset."

The couple are asking residents to help share their appeal far and wide to make the car "too hot" for the criminals to handle.

The police have been alerted. Anyone with information should call 101, quoting crime reference number 44200256059.

A number of cars have been stolen from Basingstoke in the past year.

And last month, police issued a warning about thieves stealing catalytic converters from cars.
