THE Halifax Cricket League have announced that they will be returning to action on July 18, after the government announced that recreational cricket was safe to play.

Paul Whiteley, the league’s PR & media officer, confirmed that first XI cricket would commence on that date as per the published fixture list on the league website, meaning a full half season is set to be played.

Second XI cricket will follow on July 25 and the Sunday League on July 26.

But Whiteley said that the league still have to ascertain any teams that are opting out. He admitted that this may be several, as the league are not forcing any club/team to play given the Covid-19 circumstances.

The Aire-Wharfe League have also confirmed they will be coming back on July 18. They will play an 11 match season through until September 26.

The Aire-Wharfe League’s third XI competition will start on Sunday, July 19 for nine consecutive Sundays, with a play-off final between the two conference winners on Sunday, September 20.
