'A POSITIVE step forward' - that is what South Hill Park's chief executive Craig Titley has to say in light of the government's recent announcement to support theatre and art venues.
It comes after the site launched a £500,000 fundraiser to secure a future of South Hill Park in Bracknell after suffering financial strains due to Covid-19.
The government announced it will provide £1.75bn to support the arts industry.
South Hill Park said this a positive step but are still yet to find out if the site is eligible for the grant or how much they will get from the government's support package.

Craig Titley, chief executive of South Hill Park, said: "South Hill Park welcomes the Government’s grant and loan package on behalf of the arts industry. It is definitely a positive step forward, but the devil will be in the detail.
"The fund aims to protect the ‘crown jewels’ such as the Royal Albert Hall as well as local venues but even £1.57bm will only go so far. What that means for South Hill Park we are yet to find out. If the Arts Centre is eligible an application will be made, but there are no guarantees of success or how much we can apply for and whether it will be enough. It is therefore essential that we continue with our own fundraising campaign to secure South Hill Park’s future."
The future of South Hill Park still remains under threat and are asking for people to continue donating.
