FORECASTERS say York is at risk of thunderstorms this afternoon.
Thunderstorms swept Leeds and Sheffield yesterday, bringing huge hailstones, while in the Dales, lightning blew out the rear window of a Landrover Freelander and burst a tyre.
The man inside was very shaken but unharmed, said North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service.
York escaped unscathed but it could be a different story this afternoon and evening, with BBC Weather in association with MeteoGroup saying there is a risk of thunderstorms.
However they have dropped a warning they issued yesterday that the thunderstorms could be severe, with frequent lightning and torrential downpours.
