A CHILD who became distressed after being locked in a car in York has been rescued by firefighters.
North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service said a crew from Huntington was called to the vehicle in New Earswick at 9.44am today.
It said the crew used small tools to release the child unharmed.
Meanwhile, crews from Selby and Pontefract have put out a fire in the back garden of a property in Brotherton, near Selby, which affected a summer house, bin and hedge.
