A YORK-BASED money management charity has received a cash donation from a housebuilder to help fund its Covid-19 helpline.

Brass has received £1,000 from Persimmon Homes Yorkshire through the builder’s ‘Community Champions’ programme.

Andrew Dyson, from Brass, said: “This is wonderful news to Brass and the older community across the region – we very much appreciate Persimmon Homes’ support. The donation will ensure that our volunteers’ expenses are covered.”

Brass provides free confidential financial guidance to the older community in York and is expanding its service across North Yorkshire.

Persimmon’s ‘Community Champions’ scheme is currently focusing on charities which help people aged 70 and over.

Tim Nixon, sales director at Persimmon Homes Yorkshire, said: “The current crisis means that charities and community groups need our help more than ever.

“We are pleased to support Brass’ community work.”
