THE husband and wife who ran an East Riding second-hand tractor business have both been banned from being company directors.

Insolvency Service and East Riding of Yorkshire trading standards investigations into East Yorkshire Machinery Ltd of Shiptonthorpe revealed its customers had lost more than £120,000 because the agricultural vehicles and plant they ordered didn't arrive or didn't match the company's ads.

The company went into liquidation in April 2018.

Alan Farrow, 34, was banned from having any part in the formation, promotion or managing of a business for six years and his wife Marine, 34, for five. Both live in Shiptonthorpe. The bans started on May 7.

Rob Clarke, chief investigator for the Insolvency Service, said Mr Farrow knew the ads were false.

He had continued to use them after signing a formal undertaking that the company would cease to use them.
