POLICE and fire crews are out in force at an on-going incident close to the Foss barrier in York city centre last night.

There was a police boat in the Foss with police and fire crews on the river bank behind the Novotel Hotel and on the opposite bank.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said: "We were called to assist North Yorkshire Police deal with a vulnerable individual at 7:10pm. We didn’t take any action at the scene, just stoodby."

We're awaiting a comment from North Yorkshire Police.
