SUPERMARKET chain Morrisons is helping Yorkshire shepherds by stocking a new cheese at 64 of its Yorkshire branches.

Thirsk cheesemaker Shepherd's Purse has fast tracked the development of its Fettle cheese to support sheep milk farmers.

They have been hard-hit by the drop in demand from restaurants for milk during the lockdown.

Anna Lane, local director at Morrisons said: “Our job is to feed the nation. But we also want to support our local suppliers who are working hard to make food for their local communities.

The cheese is made from milk from northern sheep. Morrisons is selling 150g packets.
