York Racecourse has closed new bookings for all its July meetings and told those with tickets to wait for further news.
The British Horseracing Authority has forbidden any racing nationwide before a paying crowd before July 1.
So far seven Knavesmire racedays have been cancelled including the Dante meeting
If the July meetings are also cancelled, the earliest racing can return to York will be the racecourse's most prestigious meeting, the Ebor Meeting from August 19 to August 22.
More than 30,000 people attended John Smith's Cup day in July 2019.
