MEDICS have cheered off a patient who was discharged from York Hospital after spending seven weeks battling Covid-19 - four of them in intensive care.
York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust tweeted a video of staff applauding as the patient was discharged from a ward, as the trust revealed that more than 400 such patients have now left hospital after being treated for coronavirus.
The trust tweeted: "Congratulations to our patient who had been diagnosed with Covid-19 and spent a month in ICU, followed by three weeks recovering on the ward, and has now been safely discharged home!
"An amazing effort by all of our staff. #OurNHSPeople #clapforcarers."

A trust spokeswoman said today that more than 400 patients with coronavirus had now been discharged from its hospitals -York and Scarborough - to continue their recovery.
