THE trial date for a York man accused of murdering another man more than 10 years ago has been set.

David Roustaby, 45, is accused of killing David Clarke, 43, whose body was found in the River Foss in 2007.

Roustaby, of Rawcliffe Lane, York, pleaded not guilty at a plea and trial preparation hearing at Leeds Crown Court.

Judge Tom Bayliss QC listed his trial for October 5 and remanded him in custody.

All court trial dates at the moment are subject to change depending on the coronavirus pandemic situation.

Jury trials already under progress before the lockdown have resumed this week with new trials expected to start next week.

Roustaby attended the hearing at Leeds via a video link to Durham Prison where he was sent on remand following his arrest and appearance before Leeds Magistrates Court last month.

Barristers also attended remotely, via a separate video link.

Roustaby is alleged to have killed Mr Clarke, of Huntington Road, York, after April 15, 2007 and before his body was found near Towthorpe on April 18.
