I am writing on behalf of a friend who is very upset as the gates at Huntington Cemetery have been locked.
As a result, she and her sister who normally take flowers or plants every week to her sons, their mothers, brothers and her sister’s husband cannot go in.
The cemetery has been locked up since the beginning of the lockdown.
But why?
The churchyard at Huntington is open and people walk through every day to New Earswick and beyond.
My friend took flowers to his wife’s grave there yesterday.
So why are my friends and many others I suspect denied solace by spending a few moments at the resting place of their loved ones in Huntington Cemetery?
