While I was walking across the Millennium Bridge an elderly gentleman in a wheelchair and escorted by a carer crossed in the opposite direction.
We met somewhere in the middle of the bridge and as we passed observed the social distancing rules - only for the peace to be shattered by a middle aged couple shouting at the carer that he was in the cycle lane.
This raised two questions in my mind.
Firstly, I didn’t think there was a cycle lane on the bridge.
More importantly, does it ever cross some cyclists’ (or runners’) minds that they might have to temporarily dismount or adjust their pace to allow pedestrians to observe the social distancing requirements? After all, we are all in it together.
