A NORTH Yorkhsire author has set up a free resource to raise awareness on county lines drug trafficking.

Christina Gabbitas, a Selby-based children’s author, has set up the online resource to educate adults as well as young people.

Christina said: “The story is about a group of friends who are groomed and lured into transporting packages to different areas.

“One of the characters, Jamie also regrets picking up a knife for protection, highlighting the consequences of picking up a knife.

“There are questions with information towards the end of the story that will help children and young people to think about the consequences of getting involved. I have had requests from police forces throughout England who have given their testimony to the resource.”

The resource is currently available as an online flip-book. However, the author wants to offer a number of free hard copies.

Christina was approached by the Police & Crime Commissioners Office to produce the resource.

Keith Hunter, Police & Crime Commissioner for Humberside, said: “It is vitally important for us to invest in the future of our young people.

“We are proud to work with Christina to engage with young people on this innovative approach.”

Due to the Corona Virus outbreak many of her launch events have been postponed.
