A NORTH Yorkshire man is set to take on a half marathon from his own home in aid of a hospice later this month.

Ben Nolan, a keen runner from Scarborough, will be taking on the challenge from his garage in Scalby Road.

All of the money he raises will be donated to supporting Saint Catherine’s Hospice.

Ben, 46, said: “I wanted to help after hearing about how fundraising events had been cancelled and charity shops closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.”

Ben will be running the 13.1 mile challenge on his treadmill on April 18, as he wants to show others that fundraising can continue event during the lock down.

He said: “I hoped by doing this it would generate a bit of interest and hopefully spur others on to think about what they could do to help.”

Last year, Ben’s daughter Loretta and her friend, Lani set up a jewellery stall their school to raise funds as Loretta’s grandma, Sheila, was cared for by Saint Catherine’s, as was Lani’s grandma, Margaret.

The runner is hoping to raise £350 for the hospice if he can. His JustGiving page can be accessed at: bit.ly/3bWK3E0
