WORKERS struggling financially because of coronavirus are being offered the chance to earn £9 an hour lending a helping hand in York care homes and helping to ensure residents suffer as little disruption to their lives as possible.

Ideal Carehomes, whose homes include Handley House in Clifton and Ebor Court in Nether Poppleton, says it is looking for flexible workers to perform key tasks including kitchen work, cleaning, laundry, serving meals and ‘making the perfect cup of tea.’

Spokesperson Sarah Colling said: “In the event that some of our current staff teams are unwell and unable to work, these key members of the community can utilise their cooking, cleaning and domestic skills to enable our dedicated care staff to continue what they do best – caring for our residents.”

She said workers would not be required to perform any personal care or assist residents without supervision of trained care staff, and DBS and health checks would be mandatory before their first shift.
