EAST Riding of Yorkshire Council has launched an investigation into the cause of the recent flooding in the Snaith and East Cowick area, and the actions of the agencies involved in responding to the flooding.

The council, which is the Lead Local Flood Authority, says it will produce proposals in response to the investigation.

The council is looking for local residents affected to contribute to the investigation, which is known as a Section 19 report.

Paul Abbott, head of housing, transportation and public protection, said: “We really want to hear from people affected by the recent flooding in the Snaith and East Cowick area – they may have photos or videos of the flooding and its effects, and we would like them to share them with us, or indeed any information that they feel might be useful.

“The investigation is an opportunity for the local community to get fully involved, and help to shape the final report which we produce, which will include recommendations for the future.”

Anybody with information to share can email their pictures, videos or general information to flooding.information@eastriding.gov.uk

When the report into the flooding has been completed, and has gone through consultation, it will be approved by the council’s Cabinet and then formally published.
