RUSH hour arrived in York this morning with barely a car in sight.
The A19 Fulford Road heading into the city centre is normally clogged with cars, buses, vans and lorries, as people head into work, take their children to school and go to the shops.
But these pictures, taken at 8.30am today, show the startling impact of a combination of school and shop closures and the decisions of thousands of people to work from home.
Heading out of town, there can be seen a council refuse lorry and, in the distance, a van.
Heading into Fishergate, there are no moving vehicles at all.
Strange times indeed.
