YORK Crown Court will not stage trials longer than three days for the foreseeable future.

An ongoing trial which started last week will proceed to its end.

But after that all trials expected to last more than three days will be postponed.

Lord Chief Justice, the Lord Burnett of Maldon has imposed a national bar on jury trials longer than three days.

A court services spokesman said: “If you’re due to do jury service in future, or if you have started your jury service already but have not yet been selected for a trial, we will keep in touch with you and let you know what’s expected.

“We’re carefully following Government advice and keeping the situation under constant review.”

Anyone else due to attend court in any capacity should attend unless they have coronavirus or have to self-isolate or go into quarantine.
