A CASUALTY of the coronavirus - one of York's biggest events in its business calendar - has been rearranged for a new date this year.

The York & North Yorkshire Chamber Annual Dinner had been due to take place on Thursday, March 26 but was postponed last week.

Organisers have now confirmed that it has been rearranged and will now be held on Wednesday, October 14.

"We are delighted to have secured the National Railway Museum and the speaker, Reverend Richard Coles," said a spokeswoman.

Rev Coles is an ex-half of the Communards, Celebrity Masterchef andStrictly Come Dancing contestant, and a BBC Radio 4 presenter.

It will be welcome news for the NRM as large events venues have been hit by cancellations due to the outbreak and Government advice for people to avoid gatherings.
