THE achievements of York social workers and council carers will be celebrated today.
City of York Council will mark World Social Work today with an award ceremony.
Speakers at the event include Alan Brownrigg from Frontline, a charity which recruits social workers to support vulnerable children, and the council’s two principal social workers, Dallas Frank (children’s services) and Ralph Edwards (adult services).
The ceremony will celebrate best practice in York of adult and children social care and reward the council’s social care workforce’s hard work and dedication.
Cllr Ian Cuthbertson, executive member for children, education and young people, said: I want to thank all our children’s social workers for the contribution they make to our city and to encourage anyone who’s thinking about doing social work to go for it. ”
Cllr Carol Runciman, executive member for health and adult social care, said: “Residents tell us how they value their social workers, we recognise and thank them for their work, and I urge more people to join this caring and creative profession.”
