A FURTHER case of coronavirus has been confirmed in East Yorkshire but there have been no additional cases in York, according to statistics published by Public Health England.
The organisation’s ‘dashboard’ stated on Saturday evening that there were now two confirmed cases in the East Riding of Yorkshire Council area.
It said on Friday that there was one case - the first in the area.
It also said on Saturday that there were four cases in the City of York Council area - the same as on Friday.
In the North Yorkshire County Council area, it said there were two confirmed cases, which appears to be a rise from one case previously.
Dr Simon Padfield, of PHE, said that while it transitioned into the ‘delay’ phase, it would prioritise tests for those who required hospital care for pneumonia or acute respiratory illness – while continuing to investigate outbreaks, ie where several cases are connected, especially in a particular setting such as a school or care home.
“This change will be reflected in the surveillance data we report which will monitor, support and inform the public health actions we are taking while no longer providing a running commentary of cases.”
