HOUSEHOLDS in Nun Monkton will pay more council tax than any other parish in the Harrogate district – with a bill of more than £2,000 for an average Band D property.
An overall increase of 3.99 per cent on last year’s bill brings the contribution from the average Nun Monkton homeowner up to £2,023.95.
The parish is one of only three to this year break the £2,000 mark – the other two being Roecliffe and Westwick, and Ripon Successor.
In the neighbouring ward Green Hammerton, the average Band D household will pay a total of £1,985.11 in council tax, while those in Great Ouseburn will pay £1,982.42.
Band D is the middle band of the A-H system used to determine council tax rates.
Both Harrogate Borough Council and North Yorkshire County Council raised their share of council tax bills above inflation to pay for the services they provide in February.
Council tax is split between the county council, the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner, the borough council, and town or parish councils. Each authority’s annual budget sets out how much they need from every household for the services it provides.
