A FLOOD alert has been issued for York's River Ouse following rainfall in the Dales over recent days.
The Environment Agency warned of possible flooding of low lying land and riverside areas throughout, with riverside areas through York most at risk.
It said levels were expected to continue rising slowly and peak this evening.
Flooding on the river may worsen later this week with forecasts issued for heavy rain in York and North Yorkshire, both tomorrow and on Thursday.
