TWO men were cut free from a car after it crashed on a North Yorkshire road last night.

The single vehicle accident happened at just before 10pm on the A19 at Whitley Bridge, near Selby.

North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service said crews from Selby and Pontefract went to the crash, which involved a Ford Focus, and released two men from the vehicle.

The firefighters used hydraulic cutters and spreaders, hydraulic rams, lighting, chocks and blocks, and a winch, and left the incident with police.

North Yorkshire Police's forensic collision investigation unit, which attends all fatal/potentially fatal and life changing collisions, said it had been called to the scene, only shortly after dealing with a separate collision on the A166 at Dunnington, near York.

The Press asked North Yorkshire Police today for details on the accident last night but they declined to comment.
