BOLTON'S panto star Ray Quinn will be back to enjoy the town's festivities after being "sent home" from the Christmas light switch on.

The Hollyoaks star who is taking the lead role in the Albert Halls Aladdin "graciously" stepped aside to allow Bolton lass Jenny Ryan to pull the switch on Thursday night.

A bizarre statement by Ray's representative said he had "been removed from the location" and sent home — adding he wished the people of Bolton all the best for the future.

But fans needn't worry, Ray will be making other public appearances. He will officially open the town's centre's winter wonderland to celebrate Christmas.

Today Ray and Bolton Council said in a joint statement: “We were delighted that Jenny was able to switch on the Christmas lights in her home town after Ray kindly agreed to step aside.

“Ray is really looking forward to meeting everyone when he officially opens Bolton Winter Festival on December 6th.

“We also hope everyone will come to see Ray and the fantastic cast of Aladdin at the Albert Halls from November 30th.”
