Youngsters enjoyed following a 'character trail' set up by a local author.

The characters and props are featured in new book titled 'Glitzy Witch', by Rebecca Rogers from Wrexham, which was recently released.

The Glitzy Witch Trail started on October 26 and finished on November 2.

It involved children using maps to find the various objects along the trail across areas of Chirk until they come across the highlight of the trail - the Glitzy the Witch herself.

A host of local children enjoyed the free trail, which included being entered into a competition - with children encouraged to be photographed with the Glitzy Witch with their favourite toy and the winner being picked by Rebecca herself.

Winners will be announced on Monday, November 4 on the @glitzythewitch Facebook page, with prizes, including a copy of the book to be collected from Chirk Library.

As well as the Chirk trail, Ty Mawr Country Park's Halloween Happenings played host to the Glitzy With Trail for one day only on Thursday, October 31.

Rebecca said: "To celebrate the release of my picture book Glitzy Witch we decided to do a character trail for the local children in Chirk and a smaller one day version at Ty Mawr for Halloween Happenings.

"Both the trails have been a huge success and we've absolutely loved seeing all the pictures of the children meeting Glitzy.

"We couldn't be happier to receive such lovely comments from local residents and are absolutely chuffed that all our hard work and those late, cold nights painting in our garage have paid off.

"Myself and my partner made all the hats, brooms and wands but were yet to mention the very talented group of artists at The Crosshatch Art workshops and Makerspace in Winsford, Cheshire who made our Glitzy Witches for the trails, so a special thank you must go to them for all their hard work."
