A fire training exercise in Foss Islands Road today
FIREFIGHTERS have been staging a training exercise in York's River Foss this morning.
Crews have been seen trying to lower a boat into the river off Foss Islands Road, sparking speculation by passersby that someone had fallen in the water and a rescue mission was underway.
But North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service confirmed to The Press that it was merely a training exercise.
