Police investigating an alleged sexual assault in York have identified a man they wanted to speak to in connection with the inquiry.
Earlier this week officers released CCTV images of a man they wanted to speak to over the alleged incident in the Fishergate area of York.
On Wednesday (July 3), a North Yorkshire Police spokesperson confirmed: "A man, who officers wanted to speak to as part of an ongoing investigation following a sexual assault in the Fishergate area of York, has been identified and is assisting officers with the investigation.
"They would like to thank everyone who shared the appeal and provided information."
The assault is alleged to have taken place at approximately 9.45pm on Monday, January 14.
The force said it involved a woman being assaulted at an address in the Fishergate area.
