A BOOK of condolences for a young mum who died from a rare form of cancer has been opened at Tesco Northallerton, where she was manager.

Faye Stevenson died on June 21 after a battle with cholangiocarcinoma, a rare cancer of the bile ducts.

Her friends and colleagues at Tesco Northallerton have been fundraising for several months in her honour, including a sponsored walk in aid of Mrs Stevenson's family and St Leonard's Hospice in York.

A Crowdfunding page in her name has already raised more than £16,000 – half it set to go to the hospice and half to support her family.

About 250 walkers took part in the sponsored walk from York to Thirsk on June 19, with Abbotts Coaches providing transport.

Staff from Tesco stores around the region took part, along with friends and relatives of mum-of-two Mrs Stevenson.

Tesco Northallerton announced Mrs Stevenson's death via its Facebook page on June 25.

It said: "It is with great sadness we need to inform you that our beautiful Store Manager Faye Stevenson lost her battle with cancer on Friday, June 21.

"We would like to thank our customers for their support over the last eight months. There is a book of condolence at our customer service desk should anyone wish to write a message. The book will be given to Faye's family.
