A BAND of very heavy rainfall has arrived in York.
Rainfall radar shows the rain, falling in places at the rate of half an inch an hour, has been steadily creeping west towards the city from the east coast since mid-evening.
The Met Office has had a yellow warning out for heavy and persistent rain since the start of yesterday but the period before and after midnight could see the heaviest rain of the whole period in York, with a possibility of localised flooding.
