NORTH Yorkshire's Deputy Chief Constable has spoken out after a Polish carer who serves as a Special in York helped prevent a Polish woman jumping off a bridge onto the A64.

Phil Cain was responding to a tweet by Special Constable Chris Hartley that the Special Constabulary had brought together an 'amazing diversity of life.'

He tweeted: "Last night our van consisted of a builder, A&E trauma doctor, cafe owner, theatre producer and a Polish carer, who was amazing when we dealt with a Polish lady ready to jump off a road bridge over A64. All safe."

The Deputy Chief Constable tweeted today:"A great reflection of the diverse and inclusive organisation @NYorksPolice is striving to be.

"Only when NYP truly reflects all of the communities we serve can we then seek to gain their trust and confidence.

"If you want to come to work and be your best self - we are recruiting!"

Meanwhile, Detective Constable Kenworthy responded to the Specials' work by tweeting: "You can never underestimate the skills, behaviours and attributes that special constables bring to the role. Great work."
