STUDENTS and staff from Askham Bryan College have been creating a garden of delights at York's Coppergate Centre.
Artificial turf - which is usually used in the summer to house a giant screen showing Wimbledon - is being replaced with soil and structures.
And now the spot will be home to plants and flowers.
The work party is installing the show garden that won the college a gold medal at this year’s Harrogate Spring Flower Show last month.
Called “In Sight of the Minster” it includes decorative tree supports, an arched window frame and a tapestry border of culinary and medicinal herbs with mediaeval and contemporary perennials.
The garden will be on display in the centre until June 25 as part of the city’s Bloom! festival.
It will then move to its permanent home and the artificial lawn will return in time for Wimbledon, which starts on July 1.
