THE company behind York’s Hungate development is urging people to nominate their unsung heroes from the health sector.

The developers, Lendlease, are sponsoring the Health Service Hero category in this years York Community Pride Awards.

Steven Graham, Community Liaison Manager at Hungate said: “We’re incredibly proud to once again be sponsoring this award, which is an opportunity for much-deserved recognition for those individuals who consistently strive to make their part of the world a better place.

“The nominations offer us a source of inspiration and should be commended for the positive impact they’re having across Yorkshire. Community is at the heart of our work at Lendlease.Through the creation of a new community at Hungate, and the small part we play in these local awards, we’re able to celebrate the valiant efforts of those who often go noticed.”

Steven Graham said the Health Service Hero award was the “perfect platform” to shine a spotlight on those in our community that are going the extra mile. It’s an honour for us to support the category. And a huge congratulations to all the deserving finalists”

The Health Service Hero award recognises the unsung heroes in the health service whose dedication is second to none.

Last year Lisa Dillon took home the award for her professional and non-judgemental approach to looking after the elderly, people suffering from dementia and others with health problems throughout York.

Several clients and their families praised her for “always putting others before herself”.

The Community Pride Awards are run by The Press in partnership with City of York Council and the primary sponsor is York-based healthcare organisation Benenden Health.

All nominees must live in, or contribute to life in, the City of York Council area.

Three finalists from each category will be invited to the awards ceremony at York Racecourse in October, when the winners will be revealed.

Entries can be posted to York Community Pride Awards, The Press, 84-86 Walmgate, York YO1 9YN. Or submit your nomination online at yorkpress.co.uk/communitypride. The closing date for entries is Friday, July 26.

Nominations must include a supporting statement of no more than two sides of A4 with each entry and may include a photograph, which unfortunately we will be unable to return.
